This Sunday, October 18, we will worship together on our front lawn at the NBC Church building, 5769 Main St in Manchester Center, 9:30-10:45 AM. Governor Scott’s executive order on May 23 allows churches to meet outside with no capacity limits (other than 150 people) as there currently are indoors. However, there are a few restrictions we ask you to follow closely.
Do we need to social distance? Yes. The governor’s order still requests social distancing, 6 feet or more apart from other households. We ask that during our fellowship time before and afterwards that you respect this request as much as possible (see below for seating). We are also aware that many in the community will be driving by and we believe that respecting the governor’s request will be a good witness to our community during this crisis. But we can still see each other and fellowship from 6 feet away!
Do I need to wear a mask? The governor’s regulation requiring masks indoors during the state of emergency does not apply outside if you space 6 feet apart from other family groups. You are welcome to wear a mask but not required.
Is there an option if I am not ready to be that close to so many people due to my health or other concerns due to the pandemic? Yes! All of the parking spaces along the fence will be reserved for those who want to drive-in and not come sit outside. You would roll your windows down and listen to the loud speakers. Please only park along the fence by the lawn if you plan to stay inside your car. Additional parking if needed (for those worshiping on the lawn) is available across the street at Manchester Engine Works and south in the Vermont Country Store Offices parking lot.
What about chairs? Please bring your own…We will have some chairs out. However, due to not knowing the size of family groups that will need chairs, we ask you to bring your own camping or lawn chairs, or blankets for the kids to sit on. Do not let this stop you from coming. If you forget your chairs or don’t have enough, we can always bring more out.
Will bathrooms be available? Yes! The Adult Bible Study Room will be open, and a sign on the window will indicate a bathroom inside. The Sanctuary foyer will also be unlocked. We do ask that you refrain from going into the Sanctuary or the rest of the Education Building/Kitchen to minimize what needs to be sanitized.
Will there be an offering box? Yes. Thank you for your faithful giving. We are still receiving checks through the mail (P.O. Box 927 Manchester Center, VT 05255), and there will be an Offering Box by the gate entrance for both cash and checks this Sunday.
Can I invite friends? Please do! Forward them this e-mail or share the link on our church website with all of this information.
I can’t come this Sunday. Will it be live-streamed? Yes, we will stream on Facebook Live. If there are any issues with it not working, we will have a backup recording of the sermon audio only posted on the NBC website by Sunday afternoon. As before, the Service will stay up on the NBC Facebook Page and also will be posted on our sermon website page. Please make use of this if you cannot attend NBC and also share with friends, but otherwise do not use it as a substitute for gathered worship if you are able to be at NBC with your brothers & sisters any given Sunday.
