Are You An Overcomer? – 1 John 5:1-5

Are you an overcomer? 1 John 5:4 tells us, “Everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world.” So John gives us this key, if you have been born of God, then you have overcome the world. So how do you know if you have overcome the world? Believe (1 John 5:1a) Love (1 John 5:1b-2) Do (1 John 5:3-5) – Obey God’s commands.

Where Love Begins & Ends – 1 John 4:7-12

Love Comes From Somewhere (“Love is From God”) – vv. 7-8 Love Begins Somewhere (“Not that we have loved God but that He loved us”) – vv. 9-10 Love Goes Somewhere (“If God so loved us, we also ought to love one another”)  vv. 11-12

For Your Joy: Test the Spirits – 1 John 4:1-6

We are going to see 3 truths in 1 John 4:1-6 that are for your joy. The command to test (v. 1) The content of the test (vv. 2-3) The children who have passed the test (vv. 4-6) One man or one woman with God on their side, is stronger than all the demons of Hell, and all of the false spirits who have ever gone out into the world. Don’t overestimate the power of the enemy and underestimate the…

“Heroes” in the Hall of Faith – Hebrews 11:1-32

One of our missionaries preached on Sunday, May 5. He brought a message of hope. The “heroes” of the faith are often “zeroes” when we examine their lives more closely. But God looks at our faith in Him and forgives, restores, and uses us. We do not have to be a hero to serve God and have faith in Him.

The Living Hope – Acts 1:1-8 (Robert Brouillard)

Robert Brouillard is doing a formal internship in youth ministry and pastoral ministry with Pastor Tim. Robert is a student at Northeastern Baptist College. In Acts 1:1-8 we see why Jesus did not immediately go back to Heaven after rising from the dead. Why did Jesus stay 40 days after his resurrection? To give proof of being God. To give the promise of the Holy Spirit. To give final instructions.

What Does Jesus’ Resurrection Have to Do With My Resurrection? – Easter Sunday Sermon – Romans 8:9-11

1) The promises of the gospel belong to those who believe the gospel (Romans 8:9) For believers in the resurrected Jesus: 2) Death is the start of life (Romans 8:10) 3) The Holy Spirit guarantees your resurrection (Romans 8:11) You may have heard it said that the Holy Spirit is like the engagement ring that seals us when we are saved. But not only is the Holy Spirit like the engagement ring, He is also like the wedding ring that…

Proof of Life: Love – 1 John 3:10-18

The proof of new life is love for our brothers and sisters in Christ.  We need to not only be challenged in our love for others and be reminded of the call to love, but we also need to evaluate ourselves before God–whether or not we are showing God’s love towards others. As we have gone through 1 John, we have seen that the gospel not only demands right belief about who the real Jesus is, but also that once our…
