This Sunday we will hold a Drive-In Worship Service at the Northshire Civic Center/Riley Rink (410 Hunter Park Rd Manchester Center, VT 05255), 9:30-11:00 AM.
Why a drive-in service? We have figured out how to do much of what we do weekly through online opportunities, but there are some things we cannot do or cannot do well online. We want to sing to the Lord together! We also have the following plans:
- Sunday May 31 we will honor our graduates, Pastor Luke will be preaching, and we will celebrate the Lord’s Supper together (see below for details of how this is no-contact).
Where will we park? When you enter the parking area of the Northshire Civic Center/Riley Rink, a NBC volunteer will greet you and point out to you where to park. We will be using 3 rows of parking spots. We will park in every other spot and stagger them in rows so you can see well from your vehicle.
Will there be a bulletin or song sheet? Yes! If you prefer entirely no-contact, you can wave to the volunteers when you drive by. You can print the song sheets at home or pull them up on your phone (we will e-mail them by Friday). Otherwise, when you enter the parking lot you will receive a bulletin, and then song sheets. They will be wearing masks and gloves as they hand you these sheets.
How will I hear the sermon and singing? You will need to roll your windows down and we will have a loud sound system (the one we use for the Block Party). This is why we are asking for cars to park in every other spot, so they are more than 6 feet away from each other. You are welcome to wear a mask inside your car if you prefer.
Can I sit outside? Yes, there are 2 options:
- You can back in with your pickup truck and sit in the pickup bed, or with your minivan and open the back to sit back there.
- You can put lawn chairs or camping chairs in front of your vehicle. We do ask that you do not put chairs on the side of your vehicle to respect the distance between cars since windows will be rolled down (unless there are 2 spots between you & the closest vehicle).
Are there bathrooms? The Civic Center’s bathrooms are not open for public use right now, but we will leave the entrance to the Adult Bible Study Room unlocked at the Northshire Baptist Church building (with a “Bathroom” sign on the door). The church building is less than 1 mile away, south on 7A/Main St.
How is the Lord’s Supper no-contact? We have sealed communion cups. The sealed cups have a plastic cover over the wafer on the top of the cup, and then a plastic cover over the juice. They will be distributed when you enter, by a volunteer wearing a mask and gloves.
I can’t come this Sunday. Will it be live-streamed? Yes, we will have a phone set up to do Facebook Live just as we have been doing the last 10 Sundays. If there are any issues with it not working, we will have a backup recording of the sermon only posted on the NBC website by Sunday afternoon. As before, the service will stay up on the NBC Facebook Page and also will be posted on our sermon page.
